[edit] E-Board Meeting Minutes, Friday, Sept 08, 2006

In attendance: Courtney Smith, Hannah Holleman, Nick Malone, Ryan Jonna, Aaron Greer, Ryanne Pilgeram, Julian Buck, Chris Goff, Dave Cecil.

Minutes from the 8/22--approved with slight modification ("250 people..." instead of 200 for "Hannah" and on "CGEU business," add "receipts are needed for reimbursements").

[edit] Officer Reports

Aaron: “Nothing to report”. Dave mentions ‘labor night at the em’s’ and suggests Aaron should take them to the Labor Council meeting.

Hannah: GMM moved to a new location, first Friday after school starts: please get there about 3:30pm to help setup. "Come early and stay late" :) Set 20th at noon, BBQ for health care: show up, be social, talk about healthcare and 'suggest' membership. Please help with tables if you can, they will be delivered at 10am, but you can help with putting them away if you miss that ;) Fall film series: "Any stellar labor films you think we should should show...that blew your mind?" [no one suggests]. Money for bbq? Julian ['chings' in]: everyone approved, so what do we do next? Chris cuts a check and Mark Harmon signs it. Just needed to be a simple majority. Eric Lindgren? No objection, so we think but not matter either.

Julian: Nothing else to add besides BBQ approval.

Ryanne: Nothing to report.

Nick: Kulongiski is playing hard to get.

Jonna: Impossible to do notes while speaking...but the topic was mainly the website: a wiki has been added: http://gtff.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and Julian is working on some other cool features, such as an automated way to post news to gtff.net in much the same way as the calendar.

Courtney: [missed something about AFT-OR meeting] Fall AGEL in Milwakee, October 20-22. Would need to leave Thursday (6am, 4pm), 1 or 2 stops. Courtney is interested and Ryanne and Aaron display lukewarm interest. Patrick is suggested by Dave. We'll talk about it. Jonna suggests past conference participants get together to discuss past GTFF "agenda's". "At the very least, we should get some reports together for The Agitator on CGEU and the previous AGEL". Also, future participants should check out http://www.geo3550.org/agel2006/ which is the url for the past AGEL. There they will find past resolutions, etc. Conference call on AGEL: Courtney nobly offers to enter the parade. Dave suggest a mute button. Dave informs that CGEU liaison is unnecessary.

[edit] Officer reports

Dave made fliers for GMM meeting and for the BBQ. PLEASE put them everywhere because we do not have contact information for everyone. Chris and Dave are going to the retreat and Carolyn has an audit to prepare for on Thursday: "we recommend closing healthcare signup while we're gone." We shall...[nice signs :)]

Chris: Been making calls on department orientations. Stewards will do them if we have them but if not the board will be asked. Also, we await a deluge for healthcare sign-up. Peak hours will be ascertained and slots created. On healthcare front: transgender exclusion issue (denial of hormone treatment; sex-specific exclusions that could cause adverse health consequences). The exclusion is in the contract and it would cost 2% to remove, says Pacific Source (PS) ['alright tough guy']. How much would this cost to immediately fix? Most places there is no cost and we think we can get it for free by threat, educating PS, etc. It looks good (getting help from people @ GEO), it is something we can win and perhaps before bargaining. Dave: the person we are working with knows that it may take the GTFF some time to resolve the issue.

Retreat budget: For food? The menu looks good, but long. Julian moves that we give Dave a $500 dollar budget for food and alcohol, Hannah seconds: approved with Nick Malone abstaining. Chris says "kudos to us" for doing the retreat and hopes it becomes a tradition. Indeed.

[edit] Old Business

GMM: Meeting starts at 5pm, we'll be there at 3pm. 6 hours, $40/hr. The place needs some 'touch'. Beer and Food, appx. $400. Suggestion of keg of local micro-brew and some extra cans, perhaps Pabst.

  • GMM agenda:
    • Officer reports
    • Political stuff, i.e. Duke ('dick') Sheppard...
    • Ecouncil retreat recap.
    • Voting on strategic plan? (if its good ;)
